In accordance with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), most influenza activity in the United States occurs from the first week of October through the third week in May. The CDC also recommends that everyone 6 months and older receive an annual flu vaccine, with September & October being the optimal months. While the vaccine is important for nursing home residents, it is equally as important for individuals who interact with those residents -healthcare workers, volunteers, & family members.
